Beats by Dre headphones have become a popular target for thieves

One of the biggest features of the new HTC One series that’s touted over and over again in lots of marketing materials by HTC is Beats Audio. I have yet to try on a pair of $300 Beats by Dre headphones myself, so I can’t vouch for whether or not Beats Audio is truly as revolutionary as some people claim, or whether it’s just another gimmick.

But in either case, Beats Audio certainly has an extremely loyal following, so if you’re one of those people who like to wear those large (and in my opinion extremely over-sized) headphones everywhere you go, be careful – especially if you live in New York.

According to the New York Post, because these expensive headsets have become somewhat of a status symbol, they’re becoming an increasingly popular target for thieves. I’m sure their large size makes them pretty easy to grab right off of someone’s head, too. Personally, I prefer earbuds to big and gawky headsets. I also have absolutely no street cred, so flashy status symbols mean nothing to me. But if they mean something to you, just be careful going forward.
