Windows Phone 8 unveiled
Microsoft has announced Windows Phone 8, featuring a shared core with Windows 8, support for multi-core processors (up to 64 cores), bigger screen resolutions, microSD cards, IE10, and much more. Developers will also be able to write apps using native code.
Windows and Windows Phone will include support for NFC and Wallet, allowing third-party apps to integrate with the experience via APIs. Security will be managed on the SIM, rather than the device itself. Best of all, every Windows Phone will include the Wallet experience.
Nokia’s mapping technology will replace Bing Maps on Windows Phone, including offline maps and worldwide mapping data. Turn by turn directions will also work in most countries.
Microsoft has also designed Windows Phone 8 to be great for businesses, including BitLocker encryption, LOB app deployment, device management, and much more.
