Deal alert: Best Buy and Amazon selling Chromecast for $29.99 again

Best Buy and Amazon are both offering Google’s Chromecast dongle at a discounted price once again: both retailers are carrying the device at only $29.99, which is over 14% off the asking price of $35.

For the biggest penny pinchers among us, Best Buy is offering free shipping on the HDMI stick, although you’ll still have to worry about sales tax in most states. Amazon offers free shipping and no sales tax in many states, so your end price will vary slightly depending on where you live.

However, keep in mind that this device is a fantastic buy, even at its full price of $35. Google continues to add new applications to the Chromecast’s growing library, and further development is expected to explode in 2014. Once the SDK is out of its beta phase, we’ll have quite a powerful little dongle here.
