Check out this ad from HTC that tries way too hard to be funny

If there’s one thing that HTC needs to realize, it’s that you can’t just make a viral video at will – videos usually go viral for completely unpredictable reasons, and if you try too hard to be funny, it’s going to show. And you’ll end up falling flat on your face.

And that’s precisely what’s going on with this latest promotional video from HTC, which you can view below:

The video pokes fun at both Samsung and Apple fans by diagnosing them with fake illnesses (Samsung Affective Disorder – SAD – and Irritable Operating System – iOS), and prescribing the HTC One M9 as the only way to truly prevent these diseases. This has the potential to be funny and clever, but … come on. There’s only one company that’s been successful with trolling the others lately, and HTC has a long way to go before it can catch up to T-Mobile’s advertising department.
