HTC is discontinuing Sense TV, recommends Peel Smart Remote instead

Peel Smart RemoteHTC is currently sending messages to users of its Sense TV service to alert them that the Taiwanese technology company has decided to discontinue its Sense TV app. It recommends Peel Smart Remote instead.

HTC says the decision to discontinue Sense TV stems from the fact that Peel Smart Remote already powers Sense TV, and HTC simply acts as a middleman. HTC says it wants to devote its engineering team to other services that customers find more valuable, like the Camera app, BlinkFeed, and Zoe, and that Peel Smart is faster and updated more frequently.

Owners of HTC devices running Sense 6 on KitKat or lower have already received this alert, letting them know about the change, while everyone else will get the same alert on May 1. Anyone who attempts to use the app on this date will simply receive an error message stating, “No data retrieved.”
