Wink woke

Wink took a nap from January 25th until finally waking up on Feb 4th. During this time most of the services showed as out and… yeah, don’t buy Wink anything unless you’re willing to accept ten day downtime with no updates.

The status page claims the problem was identified on the 28th, but a fix couldn’t be implemented until the 4th of Feb. There are no details beyond that. Just “it broke, we were down, got it fixed ten days later, cheerio!”

There are certain things you do when you’re a company that has messed up majorly and left their customers out in the dark. The first is list what the actual problem was. Sure, not every user is going to care about the minutia of the problem, but man, this is a service that charges people for home automation that didn’t work as advertised for over a week with no real updates.

Secondly reach out, the more you try rather than phoning in a status page update the more it shows you care.

Wink, no… bad handling all year.
