Asus Eee PC available for preorder

Eee_pc_preorderUpdate: U.S. preorders now being accepted at AllAsus.

Canada-based computer retailer NCIX is currently taking preorders for three different configurations of the Asus Eee PC.

Although the Internet-ready clamshell UMPC was priced at $199 when it made its debut at Computex 2007 this summer, actual retail pricing is within the $250 to $400 range. The lowest spec’d Eee PC available through NCIX comes with 256MB of RAM and 2GB of internal flash memory; the "best" model has twice the RAM and an integrated webcam. All three models are listed as being on "special order" with a delivery estimate of 1 to 2 weeks (although ETA is pegged at "end of September").

The NCIX product pages don’t include any pictures, but HotHardware (via UMPC Portal) has some live shots, including ones of the Linux-based GUI.
