FYI: Sprint TV is now available over WiFi

Sprint-tv-wifi

Throughout the past few days, Sprint has been sending HTC EVO users text messages letting them know that Sprint TV is now available over WiFi, whereas it was previously only available using Sprint's 3G or 4G networks.

This is actually pretty big news, since up until now Sprint TV has been pretty useless for those who have a slow 3G connection and no access to WiMAX. But now Sprint users can fire up the app anytime and anywhere they have a decent WiFi signal.

Qrc-sprinttvFrom Sprint's perspective, this had to be a good move. I never really understood why Sprint started encouraging more users to move to WiFi when available, while at the same time restricting a data-hungry app like Sprint TV to its mobile network – especially when Sprint advertises the availability of this app as something that sets it apart from the competition.

In any case, if you're rooted and removed the app completely, you can just redownload it from Google Play. Otherwise, when you open it, you'll be prompted to download an update that will enable this new functionality.
