Sidekick 3 gets a designer makeover

Sidekick3

Fashion and technology are quickly becoming the new peas and carrots. On Friday, T-Mobile unveiled its limited-edition Sidekick 3 devices designed by polar opposites Diane von Furstenberg and Lifted Research Group (L-R-G). Furstenberg’s glossy black Sidekick, assaulted with a pink number pad and her signature red lips, and L-R-G’s trademark baby-tree camoflauge device will hit T-Mobile’s retail stores and website on October 30 with a price tag of $345 (with 2-year contract). The Sidekick 3 sans designer duds retails for $299.

Since this is not the first time T-Mobile has asked designers to tackle the Sidekick (Juicy Couture and Mister Cartoon had dibs on the Sidekick 2), I doubt that it will be the last. I used to have the Sidekick Color back in 2003 and would’ve loved to have had such colorful choices. Hmm. The device has come a long way since then (mine didn’t even have a camera) and Christmas is just around the corner…
