UMPC

More confirmation for HTC Athena

HtcathenadigitimesIt’s recently become a well-known fact that the previously rumored HTC Athena is indeed real, but published specs still seem to vary from blog to blog.

It isn’t clear where DigiTimes got its information, but they cite "sources" who have indicated, pointed out, noted, and added that the Athena will be available in several editions: one for North America, one for Europe, and one for Asia under the Dopod brand. Their sources confirm the most recent set of specs about the device (Windows Mobile, 5-inch VGA display, 3-megapixel camera, 8GB hard drive, Marvel 624MHz processor, Bluetooth, GPS, and HSDPA), so a clearer, more reliable picture of what we’ll be seeing next year is definitely forming.

Even though DigiTimes acknowledges that the Athena differs from real UMPCs, they still tag the device with the "HTC’s first UMPC" moniker. *sigh* I think I’m just going to give in already and accept that UMPCs and PPCs are becoming synonyms.
