The waiting game: 3G Aigo P8888, Gigabyte M528 MIDs delayed

Waiting_room_signWant a 3G Intel MID and live in the US? Then get in line and don’t hold your breath.

The 3G Aigo P8888, which was originally scheduled to arrive this Friday (12/19), is now showing a "Due 30th Dec" date at Mobilx, while the Gigabyte M528 that had an availability date of December 21st just last week has been pushed back almost every day since then. As of today, Expansys is now expecting the M528 on January 22nd (see product page screenshots below).

Last week I couldn’t decide which MID to buy as my ultimate CES 2009 companion; today the decision doesn’t matter because I can’t have either. Though the show doesn’t officially start until January 8th, press events begin on the 6th, which means I’m flying out to Vegas on the 5th. The M528 obviously wouldn’t make it on time and I’d just be cutting it too close with the P8888.

So I quit the waiting game and bought something else. It isn’t an adequate 3G Intel MID replacement, but it should be a great piece of tech in its own right and it shipped yesterday. Any guesses?
