A quick introduction from a new Pocketables addition

Hello Before I begin rambling, let me first say "Howdy, y'all!"

I say this not only because I'm from Texas and people think that's how we all talk down here, but also because I am officially joining the Pocketables team as a contributing editor.

My name is Chris King, and I have been graciously extended an invitation to join Jenn in her pursuit of all things pocketable and gadgety in the realm of mobile computing and beyond. How could I say no to someone who has a gadget collection that even dwarfs my own?

I couldn't, so here I am! I'm not new to the site by any means, as I've been lurking around here since way back before the launch of the Pocketables Forum, where I go by the name orbitalcomp. Over the past few months I've written a few feature articles, and I look forward to continuing that along with helping out on the daily news stories (be sure to check the byline of all future stories to find out who's writing what).

I also usually attend CES every year, and my plan is to help keep the site updated this January with all the news from Las Vegas while Jenn attends to other more pressing matters.

My background is probably not very different from many of the readers here on the site. To put it simply, I am very interested in the latest and greatest tech gadgets, and I have been for a long time. Call it an obsession, call it a hobby: either one works for me. Over the years, I have owned so many different handheld computers, MP3 players, cell phones, smartphones, etc. that I can't even remember them all. The funny thing is that with my full-time job as an optician (I run my own retail optical shop and lab), I don't even require a MID or a UMPC for work like many people do. Go figure!

Well, I guess that about sums it up for now. Again, I look forward to spending even more time around here, helping all of us stay current on the latest tech chatter, not to mention providing any technical help I can in the forums.

If anyone has any ideas or tips for an article, feel free to send them my way.
