Modded Droid X live wallpaper gives HTC EVO the eye

Evo-droid-x-livewpThis has been kicking around for a while but since I just got my Motorola Droid X last week, I thought it was worth mentioning that the freaky red eye live wallpaper has been ripped from the X, modded with different colors and backgrounds, and nicely packaged as simple .apk files that are perfectly installable on the HTC EVO 4G.

In addition to the original red, which I personally find too frightening to actually use on my X, and the blue eye against the colorful smoke-like background you see here, there's now a gray eye against a gray smoke-like background (just added a few weeks ago) and cyan, yellow/gold, green, and blue eyes against the standard modified background.

You can grab them for your EVO from—who else?—the xda-developers forum.

These are really cool looking but they slow down certain menus, like the applications list on the EVO and I also noticed the slowing on the Dolphin Browser. Keep in mind that I have the early froyo patch from last week.

These are really neat. No root required and they work great. I also have the early froyo patch (damnit) and I havent noticed any lag that can be associated with live wallpapers. Keep up the good work XDA!

Thanks. I got the Grey one at the end, and I’m loving it, so far.

Both froyo patches are the same. So don’t be worried about that. Going to get the Droid eye for my Evo.

Awesome. If the eye moved around in the background it would be even better!

It’s cool and all but we don’t have Droid Xs. Um, I don’t get it… I guess this is like the themes that emulate an iPhone, I don’t get that one either but to each their own.
