Acer Iconia Tab A500 gets HDMI dock with remote control
3 days ago I wrote an article about how similar these Honeycomb tablets are. One of my suggestions for making them stand out was, and I quote, “Integrate an HDMI port (rather than mini-HDMI) and include an IR remote control, and you’ll have something to brag about for $10 worth of parts”. Seems like Acer had the exact same idea, as 2 days later images popped up of an HDMI docking station with an IR remote. The A500 already has a mini-HDMI port, but this dock accepts standard HDMI. Certainly a nice addition for anyone wanting to watch videos on the big screen. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I’m off to predict this week’s lottery numbers.

Good idea I hope all the tablet makers out there come up with some accessories that add value to their products (and inspire the aftermarket folks !!!). That has to be good for the buyers !!
Agreed, definetly a good thing. About the lottery numbers, I mean…
My first thought was, isn’t it too sloped?, then i saw the kickstand. Good to see manufacturers add that little bit extra to differentiate their products
I just ordered off Acer’s site for $40.00. If that dock was for an ipad, it would have been at least double the cost.
MattS, Where did you find the dock for $40? The LC.DCK0A.006 dock is $79.99.
