Dell Streak family may not include 10-inch tablet

Dell-streak-10-mockup If there was one thing I thought we could count on about the Dell Streak 10, the 10-inch Android tablet last rumored to be launching in June for $500, it was the name. Processor, ROM/RAM, 3G/4G, WiFi-only, screen resolution, battery life, carrier? All unconfirmed and subject to change at the eleventh hour. The Streak 10 name? Absolute fact.

I would've bet the house on it yesterday and if I did, I might have been homeless today. Because according to a Dell source speaking to Forbes, the 10-inch tablet is currently "unbranded," debatably due in part to the Streak name not "[holding] enough cachet to warrant an addition."

The possibility of the device not being a part of the Streak family is of no consequence to most people, but for a site dedicated to all things Dell Streak, it's a crucial detail. If the Streak 10 ends up being called the Smudge or the Smear, then StreakSmart will live and die with the Streak and Streak 7.

The Streak brand is weak compared to, say, the Motorola Droid or HTC EVO brand, but it's not dead. It may not "warrant an addition," sure, but I think it could benefit from one.
