Maglus, a magnetic stylus for the iPad 2

Turns out that Kickstarter isn’t the only funding site out there, and hiding on an Irish one is Maglus, a magnetic stylus for the iPad 2. Shaped somewhat like an AluPen but thinner on one axis, the Maglus’ main feature is integrated magnets that make it stick  to the iPad 2. It will stick both to the side (where the Smart Cover hinge normally grabs on) and on the Smart Cover itself, so you can carry it around with you without having to actually carry it.

The concept isn’t far off my MagPad stylus, a concept I drew up before the iPad 2 was announced. I’ve been toying with the idea of using my spare Smart Cover to magnetize my AluPen, but decided against it because it would add bulk to the stylus. I’m glad to see someone had the same idea and actually made a working prototype that both looks great and has no parts sticking out. As long as they can make the stylus functionality work well, this should be a killer product. They have 31 days to get to €15000 with €2300 raised so far, so head over to the project page if you find this interesting.  This Fundit site seems quite a bit smaller than Kickstarter so I’m not sure if they’ll be able to raise the money on that site, but I hope so, as I’d definitely like one of these Maglus…es? Magli?
