Kickstarter spotlight: iHangr

With so many stands on the market, it’s nice to see something a little different. The iHangr is just that – a little different – as it lets you hang your iPad rather than stand it up. The obvious uses for this is to hang it anywhere there is no room to stand it up, like on kitchen cabinet doors. The iHangr has a telescoping arm that lets you adjust the hanging height and make it more flexible as to where it will work as well as a conventional stand for…standing.

Unfortunately this is one project that is good in theory but extremely unlikely to succeed. It’s somewhat of a niche product and very east to DIY with basically a piece of string, so the funding goal of $175,000 is far too optimistic considering what Kickstarter projects normally reach in terms of funding. The case is also ridiculously thick which will put off many people.

Still, the video has some great points about using the iPad (or any tablet) in a kitchen by hanging instead of standing. With the increasing number of kitchen apps available out there, we might start to see tablets be used more frequently for such tasks.
