HP TouchPad Go leaked images make us mourn its death

The TouchPad Opal, little brother to the HP TouchPad, was a good-looking 7-inch tablet with the added distinction of running WebOS. Unfortunately, with the death of webOS came the death of the Opal as well. Still, it appears that a few units of the Opal were produced and made it to the prototype stage, because a Chinese form member has posted images of the undead tablet.

According to the owner, the Opal sports a 1024 x 768 display with the same 4:3 aspect ratio as the iPad, as well as a speedy 1.5 GHz dual-core Snapdragon processor and dual cameras. The design of the tablet is nearly identical to that of the TouchPad, with rounded corners, black plastic backing, and a single button on the front. It certainly looks like the Opal would have been a great device if it was given a chance at the market.

This leak is probably just a saddening vision of what might have been, but you never know. HP is actually making another batch of the original TouchPad, so it could be possible for some TouchPad Go units to be out there, and you might be able to find one if you really want it.
