Despite their slightly awkward size between smartphones and tablets, we here at Pocketables love 5-inch devices. Like the Galaxy Note and Dell Streak, these devices remind us just a little bit of the MIDs of the past. Now it looks like we have another one to look forward to, this time coming from Lenovo.
Just this morning, images of a Lenovo-branded device with a 5-inch display surfaced. Not much more is known about it, but from the unusually high-resolution images we can learn a few things. For one, the device has a front-facing camera, microUSB port, HDMI port, and what looks like a speaker grill. Whether or not this means the unit will have phone functionality is unknown.
The MID also appears to have three capacitive buttons along the bottom, meaning that it will probably launch with Android 2.3 or lower. While this is hardly conclusive, it is a little disappointing. Ice Cream Sandwich on a 5-inch screen would have been great to see already.
Lenovo's IdeaPad line already includes the 7-inch A1 and 10-inch K1, so it seems probable that this tablet is an expansion of the line. If so, it would likely have a competitive price that would make it even more appealing. Until the official announcement, however, we will just have to make do with the other leaked images you can find below.
