Additional Sprint Network Vision locations are revealed [Updated]

Network-vision-leak

An internal Sprint document that reveals several new locations where Network Vision is already complete was recently leaked, indicating that Sprint is making very good progress on modernizing its existing network, as well as rolling out 4G LTE across its entire 3G footprint, which it hopes to have done by the end of next year.

These Network Vision locations are:

  • Akron
  • Atlanta
  • Chicago
  • Ft. Worth
  • Nashville
  • New York
  • Rialto
  • Stockton

Additionally, the Wall Street Journal previously reported that both Network Vision and LTE is already up and running in Kankakee, Illinois, which was previously Sprint's first test spot, along with several other undisclosed locations. Most likely, LTE will be activated in the above areas sooner, rather than later, if it hasn't already been.

With several Sprint LTE phones to be released very soon, and the HTC EVO 4G LTE coming most like in June, it's good to see that Sprint is well on its way to delivering on its promises of improved coverage and faster data speeds.

Update: According to S4GRU, the cities listed are not cities in which Network Vision has been completed, but rather places in which LTE data centers have been installed in preparation for the extra backhaul that will be needed to deliver LTE to sites across the country.
