AutoRemote update now official

autoremote beta1 - for some reason we don't have an alt tag here

The AutoRemote update, for which I wrote a quick review of the beta last week, is now official and available in the Play Store. The new update adds a lot of features (which I covered in detail in the previous article), most notably the inclusion of a PC-side program that lets your computer interact with your devices using the AutoRemote framework. Through the use of additional software, like nircmd and EventGhost, you can automate your PC from your phone or vice versa.

AutoRemote is inherently a Tasker plug-in, so most of its functionality requires Tasker. However, it is possible to use it on its own; for instance, by adding message shortcuts on your home screen, which then send a message to your PC when clicked. It’s a simple way to add a “shut off my PC” shortcut to your home screen, or something else like that.
