Nexus 7 giveaway winner, and October giveaway kickoff!

featured - for some reason we don't have an alt tag here

It’s October 1, and time to announce the winners of our September giveaway. Our first place winner, chosen randomly by a computer from among the thousands of comments we received throughout the month of September, is Closet Nerd. We’ll be in touch shortly to get your shipping address so we can send you a brand new Google Nexus 7 tablet by ASUS.

Our second place winner, chosen by the editors of Pocketables as an outstanding contributor to the comments section throughout the month of September, is Deacon. We’ll also be in touch with you soon to get your PayPal information, so we can send you $50.

Congratulations to both of you! And if you didn’t win, don’t worry – we’re doing this contest all over again in the month of October. (In case you need to refresh your memory on how this works, see the official contest guidelines below.)

One reader will win a brand new Nexus 7 tablet.

The rules for the Nexus 7 giveaway are simple: comment on any article on the site, anytime between October 1 and October 31, and you’re automatically entered into the drawing. You can comment as often as you want, and each comment counts as a new entry, thereby increasing your chances of winning. The more you contribute to the Pocketables community, the better your chances are of winning!

Another reader will win $50 via PayPal.

This individual will be chosen by the editors of Pocketables based on the quality of the comments he or she leaves. In other words, to increase your chances of winning $50, your comments should have substance and add to the conversation by sharing your own unique perspectives, insight, experiences, opinions, advice, suggestions, or tips.

Some things to keep in mind:

The contest is open to anyone, regardless of your location. However, please make sure it’s legal for you to enter, depending on the laws where ever you live. (In many places, that means you’ll need your parent’s permission to participate if you’re under a certain age.) You will need to provide a valid email address so we can contact you if you win, but don’t worry – your email stays private, and we won’t sell it or use it for anything else. No purchase is required to enter this contest.

Pocketables tries not to censor anyone, but we also don’t tolerate spam or hate speech. We’ll delete comments that we believe fall into either of those categories, and if we decide to delete your comment, you will be automatically disqualified.

Finally, don’t worry if you see us editors participating in the comments section, too – we’re only there to contribute to the conversation, and we can’t win anything ourselves!

We’ll announce our next round of winners on November 1. In the meantime, good luck!
