Deal alert #2: Google Play offers extra goodies with some device purchases

Play Store Cyber Week Deals

Staples isn’t the only retailer getting in on the pre-Black Friday sales. Google Play also has two decent deals going on right now, which can help you “upgrade your TV or tablet experience” and “brighten up your holiday” (Google’s words, not mine).

First, Google is giving anyone who purchases a Chromecast dongle a free Google Play movie rental. There don’t seem to be any restrictions on titles, so it’s safe to assume that the entire Google Play movie library is up for grabs. The Chromecast can also stream Netflix, Hulu, HBO Go, YouTube, Pandora, and Google Play Music , so it’s a very capable streaming device.

Second, Google is providing anyone who purchases a 2013 Nexus 7 by ASUS a $25 Google Play credit that can be used on apps, games, music, TV and movies, magazines, and books – it’s a great way to fill up the tablet with all kinds of great content for free. Free ground shipping is also available for both devices.

I couldn’t find an expiration date for these deals, but “cyber week” implies it will be gone sooner, rather than later – so get it while the getting’s good.
