ASUS CEO reveals that new ASUS Android Wear watch will be released in October for under $199

ASUS smartwatchAlthough rumors of an ASUS smartwatch running Android Wear have been circulating around the internet for a few weeks now, we finally have confirmation of the device from ASUS’s CEO – along with a release date and a better idea of pricing. According to CEO Jerry Shen, the upcoming ASUS ZenWatch device will be priced under $199, and it will be released sometime in October.

Although the device isn’t expected to be officially unveiled until Wednesday during IFA 2014 in Berlin, Shen decided to make this announcement a bit early at a media briefing in Taiwan last week, in order to hype the product and build excitement surrounding the announcement.

He also said that the ZenWatch will support English-based voice recognition, and plans are in place to support Chinese language voice input before the end of 2014.

Are you excited by the prospect of a cheaper Android Wear smartwatch from someone other than LG, Samsung, and Motorola?
