Dodocool DA143 Bluetooth headphones – review
It’s not the first time I’m reviewing Dodocool headphones, I played before with a completely wireless version of this design before (read more about it here DA144). This time around, I’m taking a look at the DA143 model that while still Bluetooth, connects both headphones with a cable. Here is what I think about the Dodocool DA143 Bluetooth headphones.

It’s going to be easier to judge the ergonomics and shape of the Dodocool DA143 Bluetooth headphones as the only difference in the design is the cable and an inline remote that goes around your neck.
You can call me old-fashioned, but I actually don’t mind cable that connects the left and right side of the headphones. The whole ‘completely wireless’ experience is often hindered by weaker battery life and connection issues. What you get in the box is the Dodocool DA143 Bluetooth headphones, handy case, spares and a charging cable. – pretty much everything you need.
The Dodocool DA143 Bluetooth headphones are IPX5 rated, so while swimming is out of the question, you can go and run in a rain if that’s your thing. There are two things that bother me a little. The remote control has uniform buttons. This makes it hard to recognise the button’s function without checking the position of other buttons. The other thing is the charging port, which is actually placed on the remote controller itself. It requires a bit of gentle manipulation to open it up and charge the headset.
Fortunately, you won’t be doing this a lot. Dodocool DA143 Bluetooth headphones come with a pretty respectable battery life. I was able to get nearly 14h out of advertised 17h, but bear in mind I streamed a high-quality music at 75% volume non stop in my test. This is the first pair to actually compete with the LG TONE in that regards.
What’s the music like
The gadget comes with aptX support which assures a better bitrate comparing to the standard Bluetooth protocol. The sound profile is a little too flat for my taste, I spent some time trying to set a nice EQ setting to go with the headset. It’s absolutely great for exercise, but in the comfort of your home, you will find yourself missing some of that sweet dynamic range. Perhaps I’m spoiled by PXC555 I bought myself earlier this month. The sound is focused around mid tones, leaving the high tones and bass ‘unattended’. EQ will help you to drive the sound one way or the other.
Calls are handled very well, I can hear the caller loud and clear. It has been reported to me that my voice was clear, easy to understand and there was no background noise despite me calling from a busy office.
Run
After running few miles, I can confirm a comfortable fit, good noise isolation and that the headset would stay on your head regardless of the tempo. The inline remote can catch against some more loose clothes, but while I could feel the pull, it never managed to dislodge the headset itself. The music was uninterrupted regardless of where I kept my phone.
Cycle
Due to the same design as the DA144, I was expecting similar results on the bike. It’s a good choice if you a commuter, but accelerate past 20km/h and you get an unpleasant wind resistance noise. You can wear the headset comfortably even when wearing a helmet.
General use
Everyday use of the headset comes without any special fireworks. You can control the music, speak to your assistant and listen to the music. I have not experienced any connectivity issues regardless of the music source (Pixel/LG Urbane watch). Personally, I would prefer the volume and skip track options to be changed. To skip tracks you have to hold the button while tapping on the button changes the volume. I guess it’s something you can get used to.
Conclusion
At the $23/£18 on Amazon, these are actually a really good choice as your sport headset, providing that you limit your cycling to a stationary bike. The battery will keep you going for ages. If gyms are your thing, you can’t go wrong with Dodocool DA143 Bluetooth headphones. I’m yet to find something suitable for cycling.
