Google Home now allows broadcast to a specific speaker

Google Home/Nest has rolled out the ability to direct a broadcast to a specific speaker which should mean the broadcast function is a little more useful in houses with many Google Nest devices. If you’ve managed to collect a bunch of Home/Nest devices you know that broadcast becomes just a little less useful as every device in the house kicks on within about a half second of each other and makes it sound like an army of you have invaded.

Well, now you can say “Hey Google broadcast to kitchen this message here” and only have it go to the devices in that room.

It’s still not the two-way walkytalkie or intercom that Google really needs to get on, but it’s a start. Broadcast has been useless for my use cases other than to inform someone they’re going to have to come over closer to the room I’m in, and for a temperamental kid to start broadcasting demands before the Google Home gets removed from earshot.
