Use a Google Voice # for Twitter 2-factor auth? Not any more you don’t.

Over at 9to5google they’re reporting that Google Voice no longer can receive text messages for two factor authorization as Twitter has shut down that entire carrier as a potential bot/spam vector.

If you’ve been using it, switch second factor auth options before you need it.

I could re-hash the article, but that’s the TL;DR version, and as it’s Twitter this may change tomorrow. I actually have no problem with this with how abused Google Voice has gotten. If Google could stop some of the bot abuse, it’d be a different story… but even T-Mobile and Samsung’s anti-spam have been flagging Google Voice numbers as spam for a while now.
