OTA update to v. 1.78 available now for unlocked HTC One S

1-78-ota-update

If you’ve got an international, unlocked HTC One S, you’ve also got an OTA update waiting for you that will bump your software version up to 1.78. It’s 59.02MB and still based on Android 4.0.3, but it does bring a very welcome improvement to the One S: namely, the menu button that sometimes appears in a bottom bar all by itself in certain apps appears to be gone. If you remember, that was one of my biggest gripes with Sense 4.0 on the T-Mobile One S, so I’ll be very happy once this update reaches the US version of this device.

It’s also probable that this update fixes those WiFi connectivity problems that I told you about last month, but I haven’t been able to confirm this quite yet.

In any case, to see if this update is available for you, just go to Settings > About > Software updates, and be sure to let us know how it works out for you!
