Beats Music is temporarily suspending new users from signing up

Beats logo smallBeats Music, the new streaming audio service that launched this week in the US, has temporarily suspended new users from signing up. The reason why? It looks like the service was just more popular than expected, and Beats couldn’t handle all the capacity:

Due to the extremely high volume of interest in our service some users are experiencing issues. Most people are unaffected but our priority is to give everyone a great experience. We prepared for issues like these, have a plan, and are going to hold off on letting more people in while we put this plan in action.

In the meantime, Beats is still encouraging new users who haven’t signed up yet to download the app and put their names on a wait list. As soon as the capacity issues are addressed, more users will be let in.

While disappointing to be sure, I’m happy to see that something is being done to address all the issues that people have been complaining about. Additionally, to make up for the hassle, Beats is adding seven days to the trial for anyone who registers this week. Thanks, Beats!
