FlipStart gets product page and Vista option

Flipstart_official The Vulcan FlipStart handtop prematurely unveiled on Monday now has an official product page. The redesigned website has actually been around for several months, but the content is brand new.

An interesting detail not revealed in any of the hands-on galleries or the video posted since the unofficial announcement is that the FlipStart can be preordered with Windows Vista Business. The specs are better suited for XP, but maybe they’ll change a bit before the "late March 2007" ship date. The OS isn’t listed as affecting the $1999 price, but I’m sure it’ll make a difference.

The FlipStart will ship with a standard high-capacity battery (slimline battery also available), earbuds and microphone headset, port replicator, carrying case, AC adapter, and screen-polishing cloth (nice addition, but not really needed for a display that isn’t a touchscreen). I’m still far from sold on the design, which looks like an oversized Motorola pager sporting a Brother PT-65 label maker keyboard, but the accessory bundle is pretty solid.
