NEC Lui on-demand system with UMPC look-alike

Nec_luiNEC has just lifted the lid on its upcoming WiMAX-toting Lui home entertainment server system for media streaming and remote access to Vista (on what?) from two portable devices without an OS of their own. Destined for Japan next year, Lui’s clients include a 10.6-inch notebook and 4.1-inch WVGA slider unit that could easily be mistaken for a Vista-based touchscreen UMPC with a full QWERTY keyboard and joystick. In fact, haven’t we seen this exact reference design before? (More pictures below.)

The system will be shown at iEXPO in Japan tomorrow, where pricing, global availability, and other details could be divulged. I’m actually a little confused about how all of this works, so I’d just be happy with more general information.
