Miniot Cover for iPad 2 is wooden awesomeness

(Warning: this article contains a fair bit of double entendres. Proceed with caution if you have a dirty mind).
I have a thing for wood and I’ve made more than a couple of wooden gadget accessories over the years. The DIY route is fun, but you don’t quite get the awesome results you do with a CNC router and a laser cutter. That’s why it’s so awesome to see companies doing that process for us, and giving us cases that will just make any fan of wooden items drool. The Miniot Cover for the iPad 2 is one such case, taking the functionality of the Smart Cover and giving it a wooden overhaul by means of some seriously precise cutting. The cover rolls back (yeah, rolls) back to allow you to prop up the iPad and use the cover as a stand, and it will wake the iPad in the process with that magnetic magic that Apple put in the iPad 2. Even if the $69/€50 price is a bit steep for my taste (not that such unique items aren’t worth it), I have to seriously consider bending the rules on this one. The cover will be available to order from Miniot in the Netherlands on March 25, which is today for me.
