RIM releases BlackBerry PlayBook with WiFi for Sprint, without Sprint service

Blackberry-playbook-sprint

Remember RIM's tablet? You know, the BlackBerry PlayBook? We haven't covered it in a while for a few reasons, but it's back in the news today.

Too bad its comeback is so disappointing. Today, Sprint Market Director Gerald Evans leaked a bit of information about his company's plans for the tablet. Basically, he told everyone that Sprint would be selling the WiFi-only 16GB model (what?!) for $500. What do you get for shelling out that money? Exactly what you would anywhere else, actually.

It surprises me that Sprint would sell something that doesn't use their network. But at the same time, it seems to me like they'd want it to connect to their network, which leads me to believe that it will be offered in a package with a MiFi device.
