Keep lock screen intact with cellular radio off on HTC EVO View 4G

View-lockscreen We previously told you about an issue with the HTC EVO View 4G, in which airplane mode seems to disable all app shortcuts in the lock screen. This is in addition to a huge, oversized airplane icon that overtakes the lock screen background whenever the tablet is in airplane mode.

Luckily, until HTC pushes out an official update that fixes the app shortcut bug, there is another solution. Network is an app that acts as a simple shortcut to a hidden screen in Android that provides detailed information on network connectivity, as well as the option to control your View's cellular radio.

The button shown below can be tapped to toggle the cellular radio on and off, forgoing the need to put your tablet in airplane mode. Your lock screen will thus keep its app shortcuts, and as an added bonus there will be no monstrous airplane that takes over the background.

This method also works flawlessly on the HTC EVO 4G and EVO 3D, in case you'd like to put your phone in airplane mode but are tired of seeing that airplane every time you turn on the screen. The only thing to remember is that this does not stick after a reboot, so you will have to go back in and turn your radio off again if you restart your phone.
