How to fix apps that don't run in full-screen mode on HTC EVO 3D and View 4G

Spare-parts If you currently own an HTC EVO 3D or EVO View 4G, you have most likely run into one of those pesky apps that don't run full-screen. There aren't very many of them, but they are extremely irritating when they rear their ugly heads.

For me, the most annoying culprit is TV Listings for Android. I know that there are more feature-filled TV guide apps out there but, for me, the simplicity and ease of use of this app trumps all the others. Unfortunately, on my View tablet, not only does the app not run full-screen, but it's almost unusable.

Luckily, the fix is quite easy. Just head to the Android Market, download Spare Parts, scroll down to the option for "Compatibility Mode," and make sure it's unchecked. Then, reboot your device.

After this quick and easy fix, TV Listings went from looking like this:

Tvlistings-before
…to looking like this:

Tvlistings-after
I confirmed that this fix does work on both the HTC EVO 3D phone and the EVO View 4G tablet. Spare Parts is a free download in the Android Market, so there's really no reason not to do this – unless you enjoy lots of unused black space on your screen.
