This near-final version of Microsoft’s next big operating system represents a major developmental milestone. In addition to a wide variety of enhancements and bug fixes, the Release Preview includes a selection of new and improved Metro-style apps. Additional hardware requirements have also been uncovered. Amazon, meanwhile, has added a “clear furthest page read” option to its Kindle settings, taking the annoyance out of reading textbooks.
