CyanogenMod 9 nightlies come to the GSM HTC EVO 3D

Cid CyanogenMod Logo1 - for some reason we don't have an alt tag hereCyanogenMod 9 is a custom AOSP ROM that has been modified for use now on the GSM versions of the HTC EVO 3D (i.e. not Sprint). We are also now receiving reports that it’s receiving official nightly builds; up until now, the only builds that the EVO 3D saw were unofficial, so it’s a pretty great step forward getting an EVO 3D into the officially supported device tree.

When development was abandoned on the CDMA port a couple of weeks ago by Agrabren, things looked bleak for the EVO 3D ever getting a working CM9: the issues that have plagued the EVO 3D’s custom development front reared their ugly heads again and showed no signs of letting, up even if the developer moved development off of CDMA to GSM.

The current official branch of CM9 for the EVO 3D has no documentation that I can find concerning what works, what doesn’t, and where some of the code came from. There’s no telling if they picked up where Devil Toast left off or not. You’ll have to flash it, along with a GAPPS package, and let us know, as I do not have access to a GSM EVO 3D.

Theoretically, GSM development for the EVO 3D should go a lot faster at the moment because HTC has complied with the GPL and released the code to the kernel in a reasonable timeframe. The CDMA version is still awaiting a kernel release, last I checked.
