Komodo rls 0.6 AOSP EVO 4G LTE Jelly Bean kernel adds USB host mode and GPU overclocking
The Komodo kernel for AOSP Jelly Bean ROMs was updated for the HTC EVO 4G LTE yesterday and adds GPU overclocking in fast, faster, and crazy fast flavors.
The kernel also adds OTG USB host mode support which allows a mobile device to act as a host to USB devices such as keyboards, mice, flash drives, etc. Keep in mind, though, that a ROM has to have drivers and support for the mode to function.
Also, since the last time we checked in on Komodo, they’ve added the S-ON kernel installer script, so if you’re not S-OFF, you should be able to flash the kernel like you would anything else.
If you’re running on of the few Jelly Bean ROMs that are available at the moment, and you’re wanting to try something new under the hood, the Komodo is probably your best (and only) bet at the moment.
If you’re flashing a kernel and you’re S-ON, make sure to keep a copy of a working kernel around just in case anything messes up. Also, make sure that you’re flashing on a Jelly Bean ROM, as this most likely will take an ICS ROM and do very bad things to it.

Why is the EVO listed as have a new ROM or kernel so much?
I guess it is cool that they keep enhancing it, but why this one?
I have an old HD2, which came with WM6.5. I don’t use it anymore, but once in a while I get it out, and see what it can do.
Recently I put a couple of different versions of Jellybean on it, from XDA. Still looks good, and I’d probably still use it all the time (rather than just once in a while) if it had 4G.
This may sound stupid but I’m not sure how to use the USB hosting… I am running this kernel in the 1.5 speed. How do I utilize the USB hosting?
you get yourself an adapter that will allow you to plug something in to the usb port – generally you’re looking for a straight through USB-A socket to the microusb plug we use on the EVOs.
But you’ll need to be running a ROM that supports USB host mode as well… if you’re not, it’s like plugging a chicken into a car… sure it will work, but what’s it going to do?
Does anyone really connect a mouse/keyboard to their phone? I mean, cool, but weird. Haha.
I’ve used bluetooth mice and keyboards before.. the only really useful thing I can think of at the moment for OTG is memory sticks
