New Android 4.3 ROM for HTC One claims to be based on leaked HTC update

MaximusHD

While HTC has been talking a lot lately about Android 4.3, we haven’t actually seen anything yet – until this morning. A pre-release version of Android 4.3 with Sense 5 built for the HTC One was apparently leaked earlier today, and there’s already a custom ROM available right now.

Developer LlabTooFeR has released the ROM under the name MaximusHD 12.1.0, and he says it’s based on HTC software version 3.09.401.1. He also promises to release the original firmware on Wednesday, August 28, at 10 a.m. GMT.

Notable changes include:

  • The ability to use your own music for video highlight reels.
  • Sense will sync picture changes to the beat of the music you select.
  • There are new shortcuts for the Task Manager app, the WiFi hotspot, and the Data Usage menu.

All of the other standard Android 4.3 goodies are included, too, including more butter for better performance, and the ability to enable WiFi scanning even when WiFi is turned off. Currently, this ROM is only for T-Mobile and AT&T users in the US; Sprint and Verizon users, you are unfortunately more at the mercy of your carriers, although a working port should come along soon enough.

Be sure to let us know if you notice any other changes or improvements, too!
