Google

Is Google Maps navigation getting worse for anyone else?

What I’ve been finding is if I do navigation to the nearest X, or navigate home, quite often I’m presented with directions as though I were at home.

I was attempting to get around traffic on Thursday and asked it to navigate home, next thing I hear is the end of journey noise and a welcome home notice on my phone. All fine and good, but I’m nine miles and twenty minutes away when I’m asking for this.

Wife had a Kroger grocery pickup at a location I have never been before. I knew about where it was but about two miles away from it I asked for directions to the nearest Kroger. It popped up and gave me directions to the Kroger that is closest to my house. I ask it again, same thing. Cancel navigation, ask again and this time it’s got the right one.

Basically starting Maps out I’m quite often getting that I am at work, or I am someplace I was a few minutes ago. Rather than taking a few seconds to get a location fix it’s using a shortcut, that’s not working for me at least, and starting from the wrong location.

Actual question here – not trying to rag on Google because if I’m the only one maybe I’ve got something that is making it think I’m at one of these locations.
