Use Google Meet and Zoom on a Nest Hub Max? Too bad.

As with all things Google, a useful reason many purchased their product will soon be abandoned. The Nest Hub Max will be losing Google Meet and Zoom support as of September 28th.

Google Meet, which was Google Duo, was a pretty cool thing on the Hub Max that you could video call someone while you were cooking (at least that’s what I did it for,) and let the kids talk to their grandparents without putting a device in their hands which would immediately somehow spawn Roblox.

I read this announcement on 9to5Google and went down and tried making a video call… results were not being told that it was discontinuing shortly, but that Google Duo was not set up on the recipient’s number… that was interesting since Google Duo has been Meet since 2022 as far as I recall.

This makes the Nest Hub Max remarkably less desirable as a product. I suspect they’re trying to abandon the line and push the Pixel tablets or some such but that is quite the loss for the product. Bleh!
