Cathena CX: Rebranded touchscreen Kohjinsha handtop

Cathena_cxLooks like whoever makes the Kohjinsha SA series of handtops has a growing list of accounts.

Data Evolution Corporation (DEC) unveiled today its very first (unofficial according to Microsoft) UMPC dubbed the Cathena CX. The only differences between DEC’s 40GB, 80GB, and 100GB units and Kohji’s lineup seem to be the rubbed-out white Kohjinsha logo beneath the 7-inch display and the U.S. keyboard.

You may remember that I was hardly won over by the SA1F00A, so I’m not particuarly overjoyed to see it from another company. I don’t know anything about DEC or its reputation, but that low-resolution image, which looks like it was pulled straight from the Kohjinsha site and run through some paint program to erase the logo (I used Seashore on the photo above), doesn’t make a positive impression on me. What does, however, are the Cathena CX’s $799 starting price and North American availability.
