Good and EVO

Root your HTC EVO 4G with just one tap

UnrevokedRooting the HTC EVO doesn't get much simpler than this, folks.

Just visit unrevoked.com/m from your EVO's web browser, download and install the 448KB unrevoked.apk file, and run it. Within seconds, your record-breaking EVO will be rooted and capable of doing all those rooty things like use android-wifi-tether (a free but weaker version of Sprint Mobile Hotspot).

Although quick and painless, this method of rooting is not perfect. Android Central points out that you'll need to run unrevoked after every reboot and that you won't be able to install custom ROMs. You can still try to use those "root required" apps you see in Android Market and elsewhere, though. And Android Police confirms that unrevoked works on the EVO even after the software has been updated, so everyone is invited to the party.
