ASUS Nexus 7 dock not released today, will ship in two weeks for $39.99

nexus 7 dock verge - for some reason we don't have an alt tag here

After missing a December 30 launch date and being pushed to January 10, I was hoping that today we would finally be able to get our hands on the ASUS Nexus 7 desktop dock. Instead of the actual release, only  information was released today, including an availability timeline and price. While it isn’t quite as good as actually going up for sale, at least it looks like the Nexus 7 desktop dock will finally be arriving soon.

According to the information from an anonymous internal source, the dock will now be shipping within two weeks of this date, if all goes as planned. The price for the dock will be $39.99 in the US and £24.99 in the UK. While still reasonable, these prices might seem just a little bit high for a dock that simply charges the Nexus 7 (through the pogo pins) and includes audio out, but is noticeably lacking HDMI out, which is something that I would have liked to see.

While this isn’t really official information, The Verge is quite confident of its source, and it makes sense that the release date change might be leak out on the previously scheduled date. Hopefully, the information is correct and Google/ASUS keep this unofficial commitment, because there doesn’t seem to be any reason for it to be delayed any longer.
