HTC One max on Sprint updated to 3.02.651.5, gets WiFi calling and Sense 6

HTC One max update

The HTC One max on Sprint is getting quite the update today. Software version 3.02.651.5 is rolling out over the air right now, and is bringing with it WiFi calling and Sense 6.

WiFi calling on Sprint was initially introduced on a few obscure handsets that practically no one owned, but has since been rolled out to more popular devices like the Samsung Galaxy S4 or the Note 3. Today marks the first time that it has reached an HTC device, though, which bodes well for Sprint customers who have a 2013 HTC One M7 or a 2014 HTC One M8.

While the feature is great for those who are still on limited minute plans or who have poor reception, there are some notably limitations: it cannot be used abroad, for instance, and a CDMA signal – however weak – still has to be present.

It’s great to see Sense 6 coming to the HTC One max, as well, but be aware that if you’re rooted, this update has the potential to break things. Either flash back to a completely stock ROM or wait for your custom ROM developer to incorporate the changes into the ROM you’re currently on.

If you do take this update, let us know how it’s working out for you!
