AOHI Magcube 3-port 140 GaN+ travel charger. Juice your laptop and devices faster.

In the world of wall chargers, there is little new that can be done. They’re not exiting, they’re not revolutionary any more, but there are things that can be done and the AOHI Magcube does one of them by being the first charger I’ve run across to be able to put out 140 watts out of either of the USB-C channels.

AOHI Magcube

Before you leap, the total power out of this unit is 140 watts, but it is a nice addition that either of the ports are capable of fast charging a laptop. Your laptop and charging cable have to be capable though so be aware.

The AOHI Magcube features 140 watt PD3.1, two USB-C ports (either of which can maintain 140W output,) and a USB-A. It also comes with some safety features and I never managed to get the thing to heat up much even pulling the max current I could (130 watts,) for over an hour. (I used it to charge this charging brick, this power station, and a nearly empty phone.) Due to how it split the power and the cables I have I was at about 130 watts as measured by a Kill-a-watt, the Runhood and charging brick.

Due to the two-prong design you will find that cats will interrupt your charging experience, as I did. Being at the device is portable with extending prongs I don’t think you’re going to get around that in any charger.

I suspect I filled up somewhere around 1200 watt hours with the power brick and the Runhood, and an additional 13 or so in the phone. The Killawatt tended to indicate about a 5-8% conversion power loss, which is average on the GaN chargers I’ve tested. However I did not do an extended test on this as with the low temperature and decent output I didn’t feel there was much excess.

The AOHI Magcube exists, works well, and looks pretty sharp, especially if you purchase some of the 140 watt capable cables they have. It also has a pretty neat little display that will let you know whether it’s fast charging or not… useful if you’re attempting to figure out if you brought a capable cable or not.

You can find the AOHI Magcube on the manufacturer’s website, or on Amazon. Check the pricing if you’re going to get it because at the moment it’s significantly pricier on one of them.

As with any Amazon links, we earn a commission if you click it. So go there and search if you don’t want us making three dollars on a sale.

Check with the manufacturer that it will work with your laptop before purchase. These things are aimed at Macs and from the reviews I have read some laptops that support higher speed charging are not. Whether this is a cable or device issue, do not know. But if the support tells you it will work with a specific brand you probably can expect it will.
