Leaked Dell Claire rumored to be T-Mobile Dell Streak

Tmo-lgThere are currently four ways to use a Dell Streak with a T-Mobile SIM card: unlock it with a Rebel SIM (for voice and EDGE), unlock it with a code obtained from AT&T (for voice and EDGE), get an already unlocked beta unit (for voice and EDGE), or find an elusive AWS prototype (for voice and 3G). None of these is particularly ideal, but it's better than not being able to use the device on T-Mobile at all.

Want a better solution? Well, if you don't mind taking a spin on the rumor mill, then there may be a fifth way to get the Streak to play nicely with the magenta network later this year: get the Android tablet directly from T-Mobile. Although Dell has previously said that it has no plans to bring a T-Mobile Streak to market, a one-liner in a story on Engadget suggests otherwise.

In brief: There's this leaked T-Mo accessory sheet floating around, you see, and it includes a listing for screen protectors (expected in mid-November) for something called the Dell Claire. What's the Dell Claire? Engadget says they've heard it's the T-Mobile version of the Streak. It seems their source for Claire's "true identity" may just be some guy on Twitter whose sister works at T-Mobile, though, so keep that in mind before you T-Mo folks start jumping for joy.

Given Dell's earlier statement about not releasing a Streak for T-Mobile, not to mention its upcoming WP7 handsets and T-Mo's intentions to carry WP7 phones later this year, I'm rather skeptical. What do you think?
